Appudo Ippudo Eppudo, Sudheer Varma’s directorial venture, is an average entertainer, which mainly hits the stride in the second half. Though the screenplay unfolds some interesting twists and turns toward the end, it remains flat and uninspiring during the first half, causing the audience to wait for more substance in the film. It lacks depth in character development but the lead actors manage to infuse some charm into the screen.
First Half: A Slow Start End
It is quite borrrrring with depthless curation in the movie that opens with little take-away about the story progression. The arc for the hero looks a bit shallow, while the side characters contribute little toward the plot. So, it makes the first half pretty dull without any energy and engagement towards those viewers. It is like Sudheer Varma’s screenplay holds back during this portion and waits for a hitch in the second half.
Second Half: Refined Screenplay and Twists
Appudo Ippudo Eppudo redeems itself with the second half of the screenplay finally picking pace. Sudheer Varma manages to bring in some intriguing twists that add dimension to the story that makes it interesting to follow. The shift in energy maintains interest with the audience members, and character interactions start to resonate much better as the film progresses.
Performances and Chemistry
Good chemistry was noticed between the main protagonists, Harsha and Nikhil, mainly due to the comedy sequences that add an entertaining layer to the movie. There is decent on-screen chemistry between Rukmini and Nikhil, which helps in filling up some space in otherwise a below-average narrative. Hero’s character movement is one-dimensional and is not developed beyond that.
Technical aspects:
The movie suffers from problems of editing and sound. The tight editing, especially in the latter half, by Navin Nooli helps keep the initial scenes flat to an extent. The BGM is quite disappointing. It tries to amplify the narration but several sound mixing issues bring a halt to it at crucial scenes and adversely affects the experience of it.

Final Verdict
All in all, Appudo Ippudo Eppudo is a mixed bag that benefits from an improved second half and the chemistry between its leads. Though it does have its moments, the lackluster first half and superficial character arcs make this one a one-time watch. Fans of lighthearted comedy and drama may find something to enjoy, but it might not offer much beyond fleeting entertainment. On average, it’s a film that hangs on by a hair.
