Re-release of Salaar in USA: A Misstep for Prabhas’ Fanbase?

The re-release of Salaar by the producers in the USA is creating a furore among this actor’s fan, Prabhas, as well as from other sectors of this industry. Though the fans of Prabhas are much more extended throughout the world, this particular re-release strategy in question will not yield good results. Considering that this film may even return zero due to bad economic position, many feel that this could have gone better if there was better planning and coordination with the fan base of Prabhas. For example, some of his earlier movies might have been re-released, like Varsham or Chatrapati, which have a high nostalgic value.

Why Salaar Re-release Would Flop

Whereas Salaar created maximum buzz before the first release, at present, the market condition for the re-release of the film in USA is not highly profitable. The film is already reaching quite a number of viewers, and the re-release might not be attractive to enough who can compensate for that huge international distribution cost. Furthermore, it is likely that by being available on the streaming platforms as well as on other media, too few cinema-goers will come in; this is because South Indian films hardly take hold of the box office in their local zones.

Impact on Prabhas Fans

One of the main drawbacks in this step is that it can, straight off, impact Prabhas and his market in the USA. He is now a global star, more so after the success of the Baahubali series, and his fan follows across borders. In case of failure in this re-release, Prabhas’ popularity could reflect as weak and his international fans, not as strengthful as he could gain. It may probably give that impression of the star’s box office pull weakening, which is far from reality, but perception matters in the world of cinema.

Better Re-release Options: Varsham or Chatrapati

Many fans and industry analysts feel this was not a shrewd decision as old Prabhas like Varsham or Chatrapati would have been better re-release material. These films have considerable emotional value and will be drawn back into the minds of the audience, especially all those who were following Prabhas before the advent of Baahubali. His early hits will be a drawn card for such fans who would want to revive the magic of his earlier hits, thereby fetching better box office numbers and a more appreciative reception.
