Kantara Chapter 1, the highly-awaited prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, has been the subject of much chatter for weeks. To counter these buzzing rumors, the makers of Kantara Chapter 1 released a statement on their official social media platforms. They strictly denied the delay and confirmed the October 2 release date.
“We are sticking to the worldwide theatrical release of Kantara Chapter 1 on October 2, 2025. We humbly request everyone not to speculate and avoid posting unverified updates,” the official statement stated.
The word from the team was unmistakable: until and unless anything is officially declared, all updates on alteration in schedule should be considered baseless.
A Tight Schedule Ahead
In spite of the confirmation, the way forward for the Kantara team is competitive and hectic. The film is in the middle stages of its principal photography, with key sequences still to be completed. With just a few months to go until release, the team has to finish shooting by August to give themselves sufficient time for post-production and campaigns.
Considering the size and ambition of the movie, post-production is likely to be sophisticated. Kantara Chapter 1 will have extensive VFX, complex sound design, and precise period-specific sets, all of which necessitate elaborate and time-consuming work.
