Has Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss Hosting Hurt His Bollywood Stardom?

Salman Khan, affectionately known as “Bhai” to his fans, is arguably one of the biggest stars of Bollywood for several years. And of late, a few critics and fans have gone up to the extent of suggesting that this consistent appearance in the guise of hosting Bigg Boss may be impacting his box office run. A few of his films have not done justice at the box office in recent times, and several are even commenting that his repetition on the small screen within the shows Bigg Boss could be an adverse influence on his performance in Bollywood.

Salman Khan and Bigg Boss: The Debate

Salman Khan has been hosting Bigg Boss for several seasons and truly has become synonymous with the success of the show. The candid conversations and humor of this anchor have kept the show fresh with him. Once again, is such constant exposure to many months every year on TV and OTT platforms causing more damage than good to his cinematic image?.

The biggest argument is that such an icon should keep some element of exclusivity around them; by appearing nightly on television, he puts a risk to this exclusivity which first made his movie-going so powerful. Salman’s constant presence on Bigg Boss is nearly daily, making film-going something lesser compared to the likes of Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan who have remained with their overall absence from the small screen.

Negative Impact of Bigg Boss Controversies

Apart from the overdose, Bigg Boss often finds itself buried under controversy. Whether it is the clash of contestants or the involvement of Salman in most heated moments on the show, negative sentiment around Bigg Boss is trending a lot on the social media platform. Some believe that this paints a negative image of Salman, making him a threat to critiques elsewhere outside of film work, which again negates the attention towards his movies and fetches a mixed response for the recent films.

Bigg Boss is the Problem or Films?

While some feel Bigg Boss is the problem, some insist that all said and done, the quality of recent Salman films is what really remains the problem. Films like Radhe and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan haven’t managed to create as much buzz as blockbusters of yesteryears did. They feel it is not Bigg Boss but poor scripts and failures on the film’s part.

Conclusion: Tough Decision Ahead

Perhaps Salman has to reevaluate if hosting the popular show Bigg Boss for so many years has promoted his stardom or created a negative image for him. In the rapidly changing face of Bollywood, perhaps there lies the key to remaining a true megastar-balancing his presence both on TV and silver screen.
