It has been a week since Thalapathy Vijay’s sci-fi action movie The Greatest of All Time hit theaters. This action-packed movie, which was directed by Venkat Prabhu, is now hovering around Rs 200 crore at the domestic box office. The film continues to rake in big bucks at the box office while underperforming in the Hindi belt. In Tamil Nadu, for example, it is presently the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. Here’s what the movie made on its seventh day:
The Greatest of All Time box office receipts for Vijay – Day 7
Industry trackers state that The Greatest of All Time made about Rs 8 crore in total revenue on day 7 across all languages, a decrease from its day 6 gross of Rs 11 crore. With night and evening performances accounting for 30.99% and 37.86% of the total occupancy rate, the movie had a 27.80% occupancy percentage overall. While domestic collections stood at Rs 170 crore, the film is anticipated to break the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of this weekend.
The GOAT’s conflicting reactions
Although fans appreciated the quirky references and memorable cameo appearances in the Vijay-starrer, some critics felt the director overemphasized these elements, resulting in the screenplay being overshadowed. Many believe that despite strong performances and intriguing references, the plot failed to fully engage the audience, with much of the excitement coming from the film’s unexpected surprises. Nonetheless, despite these shortcomings, the movie remains successful at the box office and continues to generate impressive numbers.

Previously, filmmaker Venkat Prabhu thought that the film’s poor performance in the Telugu and Hindi markets would be down to his personal favorite Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He proposed that the film’s heavy reliance on the well-known cricket team may have limited its appeal outside of Tamil Nadu.
The film stars Mohan, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Jayaram, Laila, Sneha, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh, Vaibhav, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, and Ajmal Ameer in addition to Thalapathy Vijay.
