Robinhood, the newest action entertainer featuring Nithin and Sreeleela, directed by Venky Kudumula, has not made any impact at the box office. Though the movie was marketed as a mass action drama with stylish plot points, it has not impressed fans. The first-day collections were already down, and the collections on the second day have fallen further, which is indicative of a big box office flop.
Disappointing Opening for Robinhood
Robinhood generated little buzz prior to its release. Even though the movie had the Bheeshma actor-director pair, the promotional material did not leave an impact. The movie was released with average expectations but garnered subpar reviews from critics and viewers.
On Day 1, Robinhood managed to collect ₹4 crore gross worldwide, which was already a weak start for a Nithin-starrer. Many expected a slight hold on the second day, but instead, the collections took a further dip. The early estimates suggest that Day 2 collections stand at just ₹3 crore gross, which is a worrying sign for the makers.
With a global two-day worldwide gross of ₹7 crore, the movie is not finding it easy to take off at the box office. The share is as low as ₹3 crore, and with such a sluggish pace, the movie is likely not to recover its investments.
Festival Holidays: The Only Hope for Robinhood
Robinhood is badly in need of a miracle during the festival holidays in order to survive. The coming Ugadi and Ramzan holidays on Day 3 and Day 4 are important for the survival of the film. If Robinhood doesn’t indicate any major hike on these two days, it will wind up its run with a catastrophic outcome.
Trade analysts already foresee that unless collections pick up in the next two days, Robinhood could have a closing share of a single digit and hence be one of Nithin’s biggest box office flops in recent times.
Reasons Behind Robinhood’s Failure
Weak Promotions:
- The trailer and promos of the film did not generate excitement among the movie audience.
- The levels of excitement were much lower than other Telugu releases.
Negative Reviews and Poor WOM:
- Critics and viewers provided mixed to negative reviews, and it resulted in low occupancy in cinemas.
- Poor storytelling and lack of new content were the reasons for the film’s failure.
Poor Execution and Old Storyline:
- The movie had a conventional commercial format, which failed to entertain the audience.
- Most believed the story was unoriginal and lacked depth.
Extreme Competition from Other Releases:
- MAD Square, L2: Empuraan, and Veera Dheera Sooran also had the same release period.
- Robinhood couldn’t compete with these movies, particularly in the Telugu industry.
Nithin’s Comeback Struggle Rages On
Nithin, who was once hailed as a bankable star of Tollywood, has been experiencing box office blues for the last few years. His recent movies did not work well, and Robinhood was his much-hyped comeback. But with these catastrophic figures, his comeback struggle rages on.
The actor now has to wisely select his upcoming projects to regain his lost pace. Most believe that Nithin has to re-invent his film selection rather than resort to run-of-the-mill commercial entertainers that don’t impress contemporary audiences.
Can Robinhood Recover?
- If the movie gains momentum on the festival days, it may recover some losses but still won’t be able to break even.
- If the collections stay flat, the movie will not even breach ₹20 crore gross globally.
- Trade analysts already see the film becoming a massive financial debacle for its distributors.

Final Verdict: Robinhood Struggles to Steal the Box Office
Robinhood’s box office figures have plummeted below expectations, and the movie will not be able to recover unless a dramatic turnaround occurs over the weekend. With negative word of mouth, weak openings, and stiff competition, the movie is moving towards an outright disaster judgment.
Will Nithin make a comeback with his next movie, or will he continue to falter at the box office? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for more Telugu cinema updates!
