GOAT Faces 70% Loss in Kerala and Telugu States

The much-awaited The GOAT by Thalapathy Vijay was released last weekend to great excitement. Since this is Vijay’s penultimate movie before he enters politics, there was a lot of excitement surrounding every development. The Tamil audience praised the film greatly for its surprise aspects and plenty of cameos. That being said, other states cannot be considered the same.

GOAT has achieved remarkable success both abroad and in Tamil Nadu. North India and Karnataka saw respectable to good box office receipts for the movie. GOAT, however, has been a complete failure in the states of Kerala and Telugu. Many have been shocked by such varied collections from different regions.

The states of Telugu and Kerala have seen significant losses for the movie. The breakeven point in AP and Telangana is 40 Cr gross, yet Venkat Prabhu’s movie only brought in 9 Cr. The picture faces a more challenging task in Kerala, where its breakeven point is set at 45 Cr, and it has only managed to gather approximately 11 Cr.

Surprisingly, the recovery in less than 1/4th has prevented GOAT from surpassing even Leo’s day 1 collection in both states. After the weekend, the movie is predicted to struggle even more, with people in these two locations potentially losing up to 70% of their money.
