After Yashoda’s mediocre performance, Samantha’s followers have high expectations for Shaakuntalam. Samantha plays the title character in the historical drama, which Gunasekharproduced on a huge budget. The teasers and songs for the movie have received little fanfare, so its creators are hoping for more buzz as its release date draws near.

The ultimate expenditure for Samantha’s Shaakuntalam project was more than twice as much as the original estimate. According to Gunasekhar, it is estimated to be close to Rs 80Cr. Neelima Guna, the film’s producer and the owner of the GunaaTeamworks label, is concerned because the pre-release business is not in that range.

The budget cannot be covered by non-theatrical revenue, which would be limited to a maximum of Rs 20Cr. So, the film needs to make enormous amounts of money at the box office in order to protect the producer’s interests. To prevent the producer from suffering significant losses, the film must perform wonders at the box office.

The mythical play is based on Abhijnana Shakuntalam by Kalidasa. The Mahabharat’s Shakuntala and King Dushyant’s epic love story serves as the central theme of the narrative. On April 14, Shaakuntalam will be made available in 3D in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.

After the 2015 historical drama “Rudhramadevi,” this will be Gunasekhar’s first film in seven years. Much depends on Samantha’s star power and Gunasekhar’s spectacular performance. In this historical drama, Dev Mohan, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla, Prakash Raj, and Mohan Babu all play significant roles.
