Tollywood: The one-time south Indian superstar that Tollywood has expanded its reach to the North. Many films have conquered the Northern Indian market. For some years, big star-film productions were selling the rights of their theatrical run in North India for huge numbers. With such an increasing repute of Telugu cinema, here is a countdown of the top Tollywood films with the highest deals for their North Indian theatrical rights.

1. Pushpa 2 – ₹200 Crore

Pushpa: The Rise’s sequel, starring Allu Arjun, is sitting pretty at the top of the list with a whopping ₹200 crore for its North Indian theatrical rights. With a full blockbuster success in the first film, the anticipation for Pushpa 2 is at its highest, and this has also reflected in the pre-release business.

2. RRR – ₹140 Crore

Director S.S. Rajamouli’s RRR was more of a wave creator not only in India but globally as well. The multi-starrer film, with Ram Charan and Jr NTR, fetched the North Indian rights for ₹140 crore. It became a blockbuster, all thanks to the VFX and the story that unfolds.

3. Kalki 2898 AD – ₹100 Crore

Prabhas sci-fi flick Kalki 2898 AD has already generated enough buzz already. The director Nag Ashwin sold the North India rights for ₹100 crore, and is one of the most awaited releases in south and north markets.

4. Saaho – ₹75 Crore

Another action-thriller which was also pricey and also starred Prabhas was Saaho. The film did receive mixed reviews but got a healthy ₹75 crore from North Indian theatrical rights. This is what says about the deep-rooted fandom of the actor.

5. Salaar – ₹75 Crore

Prabhas is unstoppable in the North with Salaar, an action movie directed by Prashanth Neel. North Indian theatrical rights for the movie Salaar have been sold at ₹75 crores. It is one of the biggest-selling Tollywood films that has entered into the bag.

6. Adipurush – ₹ 75 Crore

In a polarized response, the Prabhas starrer Adipurush received quite a big hook in media as its North Indian rights deal was at ₹ 75 crores. A movie based on the epic Ramayana, it targeted a vast audience.

7. Baahubali 2 – ₹70 Crore

Baahubali 2 is a cinematic phenomenon selling North Indian rights at ₹ 70 crores. The S.S. Rajamouli directorial is considered a landmark film in the expansion of Tollywood into Bollywood dominated markets.

8. Radhe Shyam – ₹50 Crore

Prabhas and Pooja Hegde starrer romantic drama Radhe Shyam though did not gather much when released but fetched its North Indian rights for ₹50 crore, making Prabhas the Pan-Indian star.

9. Game Changer – ₹50 Crore

Apart from that, Ram Charan’s next film Game Changer has bagged ₹50 crore for North Indian rights. The actor is on a high after the release of RRR and this is one film in the list to anticipate.

10. Devara – ₹45 Crore

Devara, starring Jr NTR, has bagged its North Indian theatrical rights worth ₹45 crore. After RRR, Jr NTR’s fame in the North has seen the sky soaring. This is the second film to be anticipated after RRR.

Films in the Tollywood genre have moved great strides in the North Indian market. The humongous prices for the theatrical rights and the attention for Devara and Pushpa 2 may signal that South films are having an all-time high in North India with pan-India releases.
